The school has determined, maintained and complied with health and safety norms including:
- annual health check-up camps for students and the staff members.
- appropriate procedures and training for all staff members to implement emergency and crisis plans and handle accidents.
- provision for emergency situations covering both indoor and outdoor activities.
- health policies which include collection of medical information for all students and maintenance of comprehensive records. This includes an annual health check up of all students and coverage of staff members under a medical insurance policy.
- The School has an infirmary which is equipped to administer medical assistance as and when required. The school also has arrangements with at least one hospital / nursing home so that students, teachers and support staff may be taken there during an emergency.
- The school has a comprehensive programme for physical education, providing activities which incorporate and develop movement, mobility, fitness, strength, stamina and body skills. Varied activities like yogasana, inter-individual combative and collective games, meditation, aerobics and other forms of physical exercises are an integral part of the school curriculum.
- The school tries to influence health-related behaviours: knowledge, beliefs, skills, attitudes, values, support. It monitors that no student gets addicted to drugs or becomes a victim of substance abuse.
CHILD PROTECTION POLICY
The school is committed to maintaining an environment free of unlawful discrimination and harassment and is responsible for the healthy physical, emotional, intellectual and social development of the children. Each individual has the right to learn or work in a safe atmosphere that promotes equal opportunities and prohibits discriminatory practices, including harassment. Therefore, the school expects that all relationships among persons on campus will be respectful and free of bias, prejudice, and harassment. All members of the school community share responsibility for avoiding, discouraging, and reporting any form of unlawful harassment.
The school investigates reports of sexual or any kind of harassment occurring between students and other members of the school community, regardless of whether the alleged harassment occurred on or off school grounds; during or outside school hours; or using school owned or personally owned electronic devices (e.g., postings to Social Media and electronic forums such as WhatsApp, Twitter, Instagram and Facebook or text messages). Students are prohibited from using school computers or the school network to harass others.
Building a secure learning environment is vital to ensuring children are safe at school at all times. It covers all factors like school transport, medical facilities, physical infrastructure, toilets, Staff training and forms of punishments and abuse.
ACCIDENT, ILLNESS AND FIRST AID POLICY : This policy reinforces the elements of the school safety policy which advocates providing a safe and secure learning environment for each child and ensures care and attention at all times including field trips, excursions and outdoor activities.
This policy enables our school to effectively;
- Provide for the immediate needs and requirements of students who have sustained either a serious or a minor injury
- Ensure that adequate resources and arrangements are in place to deal with injuries / accidents as they arise
- Ensure lines of communication with parents / guardians are in place if required
Awareness Sessions
- Briefing sessions are held once in a month by the School Administration.
- Support Staff comprising female attendants, are given specific ‘Do’s and Don’ts’ including listing the kind of accidents and incidents that they can prevent.
- Positive Parenting workshops are organised once in a year for parents.
- Regular Life Skills classes are held for students. Children are taught about the difference between a “Good Touch” and a “Bad Touch.”
- Cyber security/ internet safety, netiquette are part of the ICT curriculum and awareness sessions are conducted by external Resource Persons.
- Traffic awareness programmes by Police Officials are conducted.
- Fire Fighting Personnel from the Fire Brigade conduct mock fire drills once a year.
- Role of Parents – Guidelines for Parents are mentioned in the School Prospectus on rules for entry, exit, identity cards, pick-up, absentee intimation, medical information which parents must comply with.
ANTI BULLYING POLICY aims to create and maintain a culture of mutual respect among children, free from bullying behaviour, unacceptable behaviours.
Bullying of any form is not allowed in the school, whether direct or indirect. Any observed or reported form of bullying is investigated and appropriate measures are taken to ensure it does not recur. School staff is responsible for ensuring the policy and procedures are followed in school. All incidents of reported or observed bullying are dealt with promptly.
