Alumni

Dear Alumnus/Alumna,

At The Future Foundation School, the alumni body continues to be an integral and important partner in our going-forward initiatives and new thinking about future opportunities and challenges. We are preparing plans for alumni – interactions within this growing community, as well as interactions with the current students and teachers of the School. Both sets of interactions would open doors of great value to the participants.

The School administration would like to facilitate such interactions. Also, there would be cultural events, music concerts, art exhibitions, and celebrations right through the year that we would like you to partake in from time to time. You would always be warmly welcomed as a valued member of the TFFS family!

I request you to please fill in the form enclosed to be part of this vibrant community. After we receive your details, we shall be in touch with you about various programmes.

Yours sincerely,

    Date Of Birth

    The Future Foundation School

    “No words – Acts”

The Future Foundation School, is founded on the principles and inspired by the light of Sri Aurobindo and The Mother. Guided by Shri P.K. Bhattacharya (1905-1984), iconic engineer and trustee of Sri Aurobindo Ashram, Pondicherry, Smt. Joya Mitter 1936-1999), a devotee and cultural aficionado, founded the school in 1981 and modelled it in the style of the “Gurukul” of ancient times. After her demise in 1999, Ranjan Mitter took charge as Principal and over the past two decades, has transformed the school into a contemporary, future-ready institution.

The Future Foundation School is an organic extension of a pre-school, Arun Nursery, which was named and blessed by the Mother. Shri Arun Tagore, a reputed lawyer belonging to the famous Tagore family lineage, founded the pre-school, seeking permission of The Mother to do so, who in turn named the school ‘Arun Nursery’, much to his embarrassment. Thus on September 04, 1972, the pre-school began its journey and from these origins grew The Future Foundation School.

From the time of inception, The Future Foundation School has attempted a holistic development in its students by providing a caring environment, nurturing and helping to blossom the different dimensions of the human personality. Instead of focussing only on academics and marks, the aim of the school has been to impart education based on the Principles of Education as enunciated by The Mother and Sri Aurobindo – ideas that are just dawning on present day educators.

There are schools that churn out masses to support India’s burgeoning population, there are others that harp only on academics, there are still others that only the well heeled can access and there are a few, only a tiny few that go beyond, grades and marks and money, and try to build good human beings who can proudly be the worthy citizens of India. The Future Foundation School is one such unique school. It is an institution, par excellence that imparts holistic education, in the truest sense of the term. Modern, in its image, yet deeply rooted in rich traditions, forward thinking and forward moving, yet never remiss in drawing from India’s rich culture, this is one institution that makes its students future ready.

The recent pandemic showed to the world the uncertain times we are living in. Only those that are brave and resilient and prepared holistically can thrive and make a difference in this world. It is in the womb of The Future Foundation School that such souls are nurtured, so that once they pass out, they stride confidently, young adults of noble character, meritorious, with well- developed co- scholastic skills and talents, ambitious and yet grounded, raring to go and take on the world.

The Future Foundation School provides its K 12 students a future focussed and culturally rooted education. It is unique, for, even while remaining in the mainstream of school education, it has been able to carve out a special niche for itself among the schools in Kolkata and Bengal. The key distinguishing feature of the school is its experiential and beyond-the-classroom learning programmes. Alumni remember the personal touch, the stress-free ambience and the innovative teaching-learning methods that infuse joy of learning. They imbibe values the school instills through all its practices and those remain with them forever. The school remains for all, their beloved second home. From a modest beginning, the school has now grown into a premier educational institution in South Kolkata.

The school aspires for its students:

    • An all-round development founded on values and ethics, and encompassing the intellect, social skills, aesthetics, health and physical education
    • Excellence not just in board exams but in life.
    • Self-learning ability and an inquisitive mind.
    • Ability to innovate.
    • A sense of responsibility towards the family, the community, the country and the world.
    • A global outlook.
    • The ability to assimilate modern technology and ideas, and to appreciate values.
    • Strength of character, a spirit of enterprise, the desire for continuous improvement and the versatility to cope with the changing needs of the community

TFFS is first in the city and among the first 50 nationally, to be accredited to the National Accreditation Board for Education & Training (NABET), a constituent of the Quality Council of India, as a ‘School of Excellence’.

TFFS has been consistently ranked as No. 2 in the category ‘Best Co-Ed School in Kolkata and West Bengal’ by Education World.

First school in India to get the coveted LabelFrancÉducation accreditation, in recognition of its bilingual system of teaching, by the Ministry of Europe & Foreign Affairs, Government of France.

The school has a tie up with Lycée Français de Pondichéry which is a school administered by the French government and is the oldest French school in Asia, offering the opportunity to the students to pursue the IB curriculum.

Excursions form an integral part of the pedagogical process. They are used as learning tools to explore the different subjects and enrich the different aspects of personality through a holistic experience.

The school encourages holistic growth in students and exposes them to an array of Co-Scholastic activities in collaboration with Sri Aurobindo Institute of Culture.

It is one of the first schools to attempt a hybrid model which allows students to follow the national mandate on education, yet allow the realisation of Sri Aurobindo’s philosophy of education to the extent possible.

The school is an initiative of Sri Aurobindo Institute of Culture, which hosts various cultural programmes of international repute. The school also holds Art Appreciation Workshops through in- house art exhibitions.

The school offers a spiritual ambience. The school itself is located within the premises of Lakshmi’s House, which houses Sri Aurobindo’s Relics.
