The Future Foundation School is the pioneer school in career counselling since the last fifteen years in Kolkata. Collaborating with the Institute for Career Studies (ICS), Lucknow, The Future Foundation School organised the career counselling event from October 3rd to 6th, 2023, for 207 students of Classes IX and XI, restarting the programme once again after the lockdown years.
Career counsellor plays a pivotal role in helping students explore and identify suitable career options in today’s rapidly evolving world. Three senior and highly experienced counsellors, Ms. Kavita Dass, Ms. Naheed Verma and Ms. Sheetal Sohal were invited from thee Institute for Career Studies (ICS) flew in from Lucknow & Amritsar and Ms. Manisha Ajmera of The Future Foundation School, also a senior career counsellor with ICS was a part of the counselling process.
Students appeared for an aptitude test, assessing their social, mechanical, logical, managerial, and perceptual and design capabilities. Students took Interest Inventory which gave deeper insights to the counsellors about students’ personality, their inspirations, dreams, trengths and weaknesses along with their parents’ expectations from them.
This was followed by one-on-one counselling sessions with the counsellors, during which students discussed their career preferences and received valuable guidance considering their strengths and interests discovered in the aptitude test. Counsellors guided class 9 about profile building and extensive knowledge of available subject choices and streams in school in Class 11. They also guided class 11 with various job opportunities in their streams and universities available with application processes as well. Furthermore, seminars conducted by the ICS experts were attended by both students and parents. The feedback from all stakeholders was overwhelmingly positive.
In conclusion, The Future Foundation School’s recent career counselling initiative, in collaboration with ICS Lucknow, has provided valuable support to students in outlining their career choices. This initiative underscores The Future Foundation School’s commitment to helping students make informed career choices.
