Our French Department is committed to providing our students with holistic educational experiences that foster global citizenship and cultural awareness. Recently, our Class 6 students had the distinct privilege of participating in a bilateral cultural and linguistic exchange program with La Providence, a distinguished French school located in Vendenheim, a commune in the culturally rich region of Alsace in the North-East of France. Partnering with an institution in this specific area offered our students a unique perspective on a region celebrated for its distinct European heritage. The participating French students are members of a dedicated culture club at their school, which brought a genuine enthusiasm and established a wonderful foundation for our partnership.

This initiative was carefully curated to broaden our students’ horizons by facilitating direct interaction with their international peers. Through video conference sessions, the exchange provided a structured platform for mutual learning. Our students proudly showcased their culture, engaging their French counterparts in presentations and discussions in French about differences within the school system, our festivals, etc.

In return, they gained valuable insights into French culture, exploring mainly the regional differences within the country, as well as an opportunity to practice communication and spontaneity in French through direct conversation and questioning. Through this exchange, our students not only met French speakers but also other students with their own interests and points of view and discovered differences and similarities between French and Indian culture.

Programs of this nature are instrumental in developing adaptability and a broader worldview among young learners. The successful completion of this exchange highlights our students’ exemplary conduct and eagerness to learn on a global stage. We extend our sincere gratitude to the faculty and students of La Providence and look forward to sustaining this valuable international partnership in the academic years to come.

Our French department is committed to providing students with holistic educational experiences that foster global citizenship, cultural awareness, and linguistic excellence. French holds a distinctive position in our institution, with a remarkably high number of students opting for it as a second language, reflecting both sustained interest and the strong foundation built within the school.

A significant pillar of our French programme is the preparation for the DELF (Diplôme d’Études en Langue Française) and DALF certifications, internationally recognised diplomas awarded by the French Ministry of Education. These certifications are aligned with the CECRL / CEFRL (Cadre Européen Commun de Référence pour les Langues / Common European Framework of Reference for Languages), the internationally accepted framework used to assess language proficiency across listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills. Our approach to DELF preparation extends far beyond examination training. Through immersive learning experiences, cultural exposure, interdisciplinary activities, and consistent skill-based development in listening, speaking, reading, and writing, students gradually build the confidence and competence required to succeed at international standards. The department takes immense pride in nurturing students who not only achieve excellent results in these examinations but also develop into articulate and globally minded communicators. One such inspiring example is Rishabh Paul, a student of our school who recently cleared the prestigious DALF C1 level at a remarkably young age and is now preparing for DALF C2.

The French curriculum is thoughtfully designed in alignment with both the ICSE syllabus and the competencies outlined in the CECRL / CEFRL framework. This integrated approach enables students to gradually develop communicative proficiency and cultural understanding while simultaneously preparing them for internationally benchmarked examinations such as DELF. As a result, students benefit from a balanced and progressive learning experience that combines academic excellence with practical language application.

What sets our program apart is the emphasis on immersive and experiential learning. Throughout the academic year, students benefit from a range of workshops, ateliers, and interactive discussion sessions conducted both in-house and externally by French-speaking resource persons. These sessions provide invaluable exposure to native language use, cultural nuances, and contemporary perspectives, making language learning dynamic and relevant.

Recently, our Class 6 students had the privilege of participating in a bilateral cultural and

Through structured video conference sessions, our students engaged in meaningful exchanges, presenting aspects of Indian culture and school life in French while also gaining insights into regional and cultural diversity within France. These interactions encouraged spontaneity, confidence, and authentic communication in the target language.

The department also strongly believes in the importance of continuous professional development. Our French teachers regularly participate in training programmes, pedagogical workshops, and certification sessions organised by French Institute in India and other Francophone educational bodies, ensuring that classroom practices remain innovative, contemporary, and aligned with international standards of language education.

These sessions provide invaluable exposure to native language use, cultural nuances, and contemporary perspectives, making language learning dynamic and relevant.

Additionally, the school fosters a vibrant Francophone environment. A dedicated French library, housing more than 1000 books, serves as a rich resource for students to explore literature, enhance comprehension skills, and cultivate a love for the language beyond the classroom.

Programs such as the exchange with La Providence, combined with continuous exposure to authentic language experiences, play a crucial role in shaping confident, adaptable, and globally aware learners. Our students not only learn French – they live it through meaningful engagement, cultural exchange, and intellectual curiosity.

DELF

Our French department is committed to fostering global citizenship, cultural awareness, and linguistic excellence. French holds a distinctive position in our institution, with a large number of students choosing it as their second language, reflecting strong interest and a solid foundation built over the years.

The DELF (Diplôme d’Études en Langue Française) is a prestigious, internationally recognized certification awarded by the French Ministry of Education. In our school, students are systematically prepared for the DELF examination through focused training and skill-based learning in listening, speaking, reading, and writing. The examination is conducted in a structured and professional manner, providing students with the experience of an internationally benchmarked certification within a supportive environment. Achieving DELF certification is a proud milestone that reflects both linguistic competence and global readiness.

French Ambassador visit to TFFS

French Flag

His Excellency, Mr. Thierry Mathou, Ambassador of France to India on a diplomatic visit to the School expressed his views on the importance of learning the French language. He went on to congratulate the parents for choosing the French language as an option for their wards. He proudly declared The Future Foundation School as the only recipient of LABEL France, in India, with a highly structured manner of teaching the language. His Excellency highlighted the bilateral agreement between India and France, signed on the occasion of the Prime Minister of India's visit to France in July 2023. The agreement lays special emphasis on academic exchanges and an increased effort from the French side to welcome a growing number of Indian students on French soil. Furthermore, he emphasised on the importance of learning the French language before embarking on an academic pursuit in France, he warmly encouraged parents and students to consider France as a destination for Higher Education.

TFFS is the first school in India and one of the first few in Asia to get the coveted LabelFrancÉducation accreditation and probably the only one now in India, in recognition of its bilingual system of teaching, by the Ministry of Europe & Foreign Affairs, Government of France.

Since 2017 to date it is the only establishment in the Label FrancEducation network in India.

The school has a bilingual section where nearly 1054 students learn the French language in a modern and interactive way through a team of dedicated and experienced teachers. 609 students learn French as a Salient Language (Second Language) where some non-linguistic subjects like Art, Physical Education and Mathematics are also conducted in the French language. 447 students learn French as a Tertiary Language (Third Language). The learning of French as a Salient Language starts from K.G. 2 which continues till the Secondary level and of Tertiary Language from Class 1 and continues till Middle School Level. French is also offered as a Modern Foreign Language in Classes 9 and 10. The students had appeared for the Class 10 Board Examination (ICSE) with French as the Second Language for the first time in 2023 and have scored very well.

The visit of the French ambassador to India, Mr.Thierry Mathou , in our school

His excellency being welcomed by our children.

It is equipped with one of the most qualified and experienced francophone team of teachers in India. All the teachers (9) teaching French have the certified level to teach the language and they undergo vigorous training both in-house and the ones organised by IFI, Alliance Française. The teachers benefit from an ongoing language training plan and educational training scholarships in France. Since July 2023, the school is hosting one civic service to organize linguistic and cultural activities. The Academic Consultant/Head of the Department is a French national who has been especially hired to ensure that there is a bilingual environment where the French language elements are inclusive.

There is rigorous investment to establish a proper French Resource Centre in the school premises which is the only library in India with more than over 1000 children’s books.

There are round the year initiatives to create a francophone environment with complete immersion into French culture and language. The students and teachers also participate in the various workshops, seminars, cultural programmes, etc that are organised by IFI, Alliance Française du Bengale.

The students taking up French are introduced to the Delf Prim and Junior examinations (French International Examination) where the students have shown excellent performance consistently for the last several years, thus holding certification of their language proficiency, equipping them to gain admission in prestigious colleges in France and other francophonie countries.

The students are also engaged in sustained exchange programmes with reputed schools in France, like École Alsacienne, Lycée Gambetta and Lycée Galilée.

The students are exposed to career fairs and various cultural and academic workshops with French personalities of distinction. The school works in close association with the French embassy, Institut Français en Inde and Alliance Française du Bengale to expose its students to the best international curricular initiatives.

French Career Fair

The school has a tie-up with Lycée Français de Pondichéry which is the oldest French school in Asia, administered by the French government. Students of The Future Foundation School who would like to do their studies in France or at other francophonie countries at the undergraduate level, choose to join the Lycée, after satisfying all admission requirements and formalities. The students and teachers also undergo exchange programmes in various subjects. Excursions are also arranged between the students of the two schools.

Innovation, sustainability , skill

‘Apprentice Scientist’, a scientific experiement inter-school competition has also been designed and executed for the last several years in collaboration with Lycée Français de Pondichéry, where students of different schools from the middle school level have been exposed to scientific methods of enquiry with special sessions to meet scientific luminaries from the French research centres/universities.

Since March 2023, students in bilingual sections of Classes 8, 9, 10 and 11 (fourth-first) have been prepared for B2 certification so that they can, if they wish, study in France in a French-speaking course. The first, and second year, students will take the DELF Junior B2 in April 2024 and will be the first class of certified B2 high school students in India. This restructuring of teaching was made possible by a reduction in numbers per class with additional teacher support (22 students against 45), the construction of four additional classrooms, and an increase in the number of hours in French, an ambitious recruitment policy and in-house training for teachers. Four annual intensive extracurricular training sessions complete the bilingual section's school programme.

A Digital Journey to Remember: Class VII Visits Novembre Numérique at Alliance Française du Bengale ✨
On November 26, 2025, eighteen enthusiastic Class VII students—learning French as their salient language—had the wonderful opportunity to visit the spectacular “Novembre Numérique” exhibition at Alliance Française du Bengale.
